The Team

My name is Katie Morris if you have not met me before, a quick hello from me! I am the executive director & owner of Portland Preschool of the Arts & The Hangout PDX, and the glorified “Kool bus driver”. I am a mom to two amazing kiddos, Porter (4) & Pepper (8), the wife of Dan (we have been together for 25 years now and are happily married), and dog mom to Scout. I am an active PTA member at Glencoe, hope to also include Richmond, and Sunnyside PTA meetings to the calendar this year as well.  I purchased and have been running Portland Preschool of the Arts & The Hangout PDX since January 2020. A real dodgy time to take over a business, but here we are! The last 4 years have taught us a lot about patience, and community, and what it really takes to be a part of both. I am passionate about building and nurturing community and have blended this sentiment with my own love for art to open a creative, welcoming and safe space for kids and their families. My hope is that each day when your child leaves our program they will have learned something new, taken a risk in their art-making, and will also have made a new friend. Let’s teach our children about community, and learning that asking for help from our friends and neighbors is important as it brings us all together.
