Meet Our Team

Hello! My name is Katie Morris and I am a mom to two amazing kiddos, Porter (5) & Pepper (9), the wife of Dan (we have been together for 26 years now and are happily married), and dog mom to Scout and Chili. I am also the Executive Director & Owner of Portland Preschool of the Arts & The Hangout PDX, as well as the glorified “Kool Bus Driver”!

I purchased and have been running Portland Preschool of the Arts & The Hangout PDX since January 2020. A real dodgy time to take over a business, but here we are! The last five years have taught me a lot about patience and what it really takes to contribute to the growth of this wonderful, colorful, and creative little place we call home.

I am passionate about building and nurturing community and have blended this sentiment with my own love for art to open a creative, welcoming and safe space for kids and their families. My hope is that each day when your child leaves our program they will have learned something new, taken a risk in their art-making, and will also have made a new friend. Let’s teach our children about community, and learning that asking for help from our friends and neighbors is important as it brings us all together.

I am an active PTA member at Glencoe, and hope to also include Richmond, and Sunnyside PTA meetings to the calendar this year as well.
